Abstract

WEINBERG, Cybelle  and  BERLINCK, Manoel Tosta. The holy fast and the anorexie fast: radical ways of dealing with the body's demands. Trivium [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.2, pp. 255-268. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2015v2p.255.

This article aims to make a comparison between the fasting saints of the holy Church and the symptom of refusing food, seeking to understand how the fasting saints and patients with symptoms of anorexia interpret the demands coming from the body. In order to understand how Christianity in the West has understood this demanding body over the centuries, we studied some texts by important authors of the Church, which contributed towards the construction of its body of doctrine.

Keywords : FAST; CHRISTIANITY; ANOREXIA; IDEAL.
