Abstract

SILVA, Renato de Oliveira. Love in psychoanalysis: considerations about the movie Tristana, by Luis Bunuel. Trivium [online]. 2015, vol.7, n.2, pp. 298-315. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2015v2p.298.

In this article we discuss the concept of love in psychoanalysis. Since Freud (1914/1996) it is known that in female patients it was identified a bigger necessity to love than be loved. In his Seminary about transference, Lacan (1960-1961/2010) deconstructs the idea the affective encounter as one of a completeness experience. Based in his study done upon Plato's The Banquet, we discuss about the themes of the book, such as: the lover (érastès) and loved (érôménos) positions, the love metaphor and the agalma. The concepts are illustrated and commented through the analysis of the movie Tristana (1970) by Luis Bunuel, which exhibits the experience of a young girl involved in love matters.

Keywords : LOVE; CINEMA; PSYCHOANALYSIS.
