Challenging normativity and essentialisms, unfixing our notions of gender, sex, and sexual identity, trans modalities of embodiment can help reorient psychoanalytic practice. Drawing from clinical work with gender-variant patients, the author of this essay argues for a depathologization of the transgender experience.
