This article aims to present the question of the presence and role of the parents in psychoanalytic practice with children. The contributions of Sigmund Freud, Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, and authors inspired by the teaching of Lacan, such as Françoise Dolto, Maud Mannoni and Alba Flesler, are considered. Finally, the clinical management with parents is discussed with the presentation of two clinical cases.
