Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the conditions of cultural transmission from the reference located by Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis and Hannah Arendt's political theory. The operated development is woven to the questions placed by Orhan Pamuk, in My name is red, romance that allows unfold the complexity involved in the transmission when the passage of societies organized by the tradition to societies sustained by individual production. The argument that runs through the text is that the transmission, in our time, is based on a loss, effects of appropriation of each subject of inheritance that is available to you. It is this loss that allows paradoxically keeping the reference to the past.
