Abstract

GHEROVICI, Patricia. Is the psychoanalysis prepared for the sex change?.Translated byJosé Maurício Loures. Trivium [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp. 130-139. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2018v2p.130.

Psychoanalysis, in the course of its development, assumed a normative position in interpreting transsexuality as an index of pathology. The transgender people has pointed to the impossibility of representing sexuality, an impossibility that implicitly subverts the fixity of all identity claims. There is no doubt that the cultural phenomenon described in the news as a "transgender moment" is changing our notions of gender, gender and sexual identity. This evolution implies an important realignment in psychoanalytic practice.

Keywords : TRANSSEXUALITY; PSYCHOANALYSIS; SEXUALITY; GENDER.
