Abstract

PEREIRA, Luzia Rodrigues  and  COSTA, Ana Maria Medeiros da. Counterpoints between psychoanalysis and medicine in cancer hospital. Trivium [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp. 156-164. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2019v2p.156.

Based on practice in a cancer hospital, we will think of the relationship between psychoanalysis and medicine in the present moment where evidence-based medicine seems to prevail. First we will discuss the evidence-based medicine, and then, we will point out some ethical differences involved in psychoanalysis and medicine. Our intention is to clarify that both can coexist in the hospital, and show that, what medicine excludes is fundamental to the psychoanalytic approach.

Keywords : PSYCHOANALYSIS; MEDICINE; EVIDENCE; ETHICS.
