Abstract

PRIMO, Joana Sampaio  and  ROSA, Miriam Debieux. Friendship, alterity and the uncanny: a reading of Freud's letters to Fliess. Trivium [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp. 208-221. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2019v2p.208.

The friendship wasn't a psychoanalytic concept, although this practice was very important during the psychoanalytic elaboration: along his life and his career, Freud had some important friends who support his work. The present article emerges from an ongoing debate on friendship, regarding it as a millennia-old social practice with a political sense, because it is a relationship that can preserves the space between oneself and the other, or rather, that it can preserves alterity. Despite this characteristic, the encounter with the otherness was also uncanny and full of discontent. The present article analyzed the Freud's correspondence to Fliess to find out the different ways that alterity comes out.

Keywords : FREUD-FLIESS CORRESPONDANCE; FRIENDSHIP; ALTERITY; PSYCHOANALYSIS; UNCANNY.
