Abstract

BARROS, Rita Maria Manso de  and  LIGEIRO, Vivian Martins. "What is it to be a woman?" - between the enigma and the helplessness. Trivium [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp. 3-13. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2020v1p.3.

The present work aims to question the relationship of women with anguish. First, we will present an articulation between Freudian and Lacanian conceptions on the theme. It was also necessary to discuss the feminine thought not only by the phallic logic, but also by the not-whole, brought by Lacan, in order to reflect on the concept of devastation. The catastrophic relations of women with their mother and with their loving partner bring up the female issue that is divided between the search for phallic identification and the deadly jouissance that can result from this yearning.

Keywords : WOMEN; ANGUISH; HELPLESSNESS; FEMININE; PHALLIC.
