There is an insistence of the scopic in contemporary times based on the pregnancy of images on social networks and disciplinary panoptism. The look as an object provides the foundation for thinking about the scopic drive in society and its effects and consequences on the social bond. In this sense, we seek, in this article, to support the thesis that contemporary society is guided by paranoid reason and reflect on an ethics of the gaze, dependent on the object that causes desire.
