Resumen

FONTES, Flávio Fernandes. What is the linguistic turn?. Trivium [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.2, pp. 3-17. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2020v2p.3.

The "linguistic turn" is an important expression and metaphor in the philosophy of language. Here, a theoretical and conceptual study is provided, that investigates its origin and distinguishes different meanings given to the expression. It is argued that these different meanings can be articulated through a narrative about the quest for the perfect language. The failure of this pursuit generates an important paradigmatic change, that leads to the abandonment of an idealized conception of reason in favor of a necessarily historical reason, as well as questions the separation between thought and language, ordinary and scientific language.

Palabras clave : Philosophy of language; Analytic philosophy; Conceptual analysis.
