Abstract

DARRIBA, Vinicius Anciães; BRUNHARI, Marcos Vinicius  and  PEREIRA, Lívia Beatriz Lisboa. The status of the Master Signifier in segregation: cause and effect of the discourse. Trivium [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.spe, pp. 23-33. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2021vNSPEAp.23.

The aim of this article is to establish the distinction, or to point out indices of differentiation between segregation as a cause of discourse and segregation as an effect of the universalization promoted by science, both worked within Lacan's teaching. This investigation will focus, here, on the status of the Master Signifier, questioning it's changes that are related to the different formulations of the notion of segregation. By taking segregation as an effect of universalization, changes in the social structures in which the problem of the Master Signifier is involved come into play.

Keywords : SEGREGATION; JOUISSANCE; MASTER SIGNIFIER.
