Abstract

MARCOS, Cristina Moreira; PINTO, Beatriz Bissoli Laranja Gouvéa; RATTON, Clara Matos  and  LOPES, Lucas Anselmo Polido. Family portraits: the various faces of motherhood in literature and cinema. Trivium [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, pp. 55-68. ISSN 2176-4891.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18379/2176-4891.2021v1p.55.

For psychoanalysis, motherhood goes beyond biology and procreation. The desire to have a child acquires different meanings for different women. The child does not fully com-plete the mother. We must ask what place the child occupies in the maternal unconscious. We are interested in investigating the different positions of the mother in relation to the child and the impasses peculiar to each woman in this relation. Three operators - love, desire and jouissance - guide us in our readings.

Keywords : MOTHERHOOD; CHILD; LOVE; DESIRE; ENJOYMENT.
