Abstract

BISPO, Fábio Santos; SCARAMUSSA, Melissa Festa  and  SILVA, Beatriz Oliveira Da. Bolsonarism and the psychology of the masses 100 years later. Trivium [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.spe, pp. 113-126. ISSN 2176-4891.

This article proposes a discussion about the subjective, social and technological conditions that sustain the influence power of Bolsonarism in Brazil. We saw in the last elections and during the pandemic the strength of sharing fake news on social networks as a strategy of mass manipulation. We ask what kind of relationship between knowledge and truth (Lacan, 1969-70/1992) was constituted so that they would become viral. We find that, 100 years later, the psychology of the masses (Freud, 1921/1996) still presents important contributions to think about the contemporary forms of virtual ties before a cynical capitalization of the spraying of the place of the Other.

Keywords : BOLSONARISMO; FAKE NEWS; SOCIAL NETWORKS; PSYCHOLOGY OF THE MASSES.
