Abstract

CATANI, Júlia. The role of analytical frame in hospital: possibilities and limitations of practice. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2013, vol.5, n.1, pp. 25-31. ISSN 2177-093X.

The study aims present and discuss the definition and the role of analytic frame. To do it, we used three clinical examples from the hospital, putting in focus the implications and adaptations in this context. Freud considered the frame limited to free association and the position of the analyst-analysand. However, this concept changed to determining what elements should be present and for what purpose. The frame according to psychoanalysis constitutes the vicissitudes to establish a contract between the analyzer and the patient in order to facilitate the therapeutic analyses and provide limits. The rules included in frame are structural and influenced by the transference relationship. Those elements are closely linked to the psychopathology, the demand and the request for help, so it is important to understand and reflect on this concept.

Keywords : Frame; Contract; Hospital context; Psychoanalysis.
