The child hospitalization generates changes in the child's life routine and their families. In this context, this study aimed to understand and identify the emotional repercussions accompanying mothers of hospitalized children with heart disease. As a method, we conducted a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews, six mothers participated, being used content analysis to study the data obtained. It was found that the mothers had different subjective reactions along the hospitalization, such as fear, sadness, stress, anxiety, helplessness, distress, loneliness and guilt. Moreover, demonstrated as coping mechanisms spirituality and religiosity. Before these demands, the psychologist can work with the team multidisciplinary, providing a humane treatment.
