Abstract

GUIMARAES, Ana Carolina Ametlla; VERAS, André Barciela  and  CARLI, Alessandro Diogo de. Care in liberty, a meeting between Paulo Freire and the psychiatric reform. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 91-103. ISSN 2177-093X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v10i1.696.

The objective of this essay was to present the intersections between Paulo Freire 's theory and the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform, as well as its applicability in the structuring of a clinical work, which gives sustainability to the precepts of this reformist movement. Throughout the text we make a question about the operationalization of health care, based on the production of freedom, as opposed to the risk of performing a superficial reform that does not differ subjectively from the oppressive position of asylum segregation. We discuss the reorientation of attention in mental health anchored in the axes of the quality and humanization of care, as well as in the contractual relations between workers and users, adopting as theoretical reference, some practical and conceptual aspects of the Freirean theory.

Keywords : psychiatric reform; Paulo Freire; autonomy.
