Abstract

This study sought to contextualize the depression as having an association with suicidal behavior. The study was focused on 25 patients, however, at the time of the household visit, we had faced with situations such as: hospitalization, death, confinement of freedom, refusal, and suicide simulation report. In light of the foregoing, the interview was conducted with 9 participants, ranging in age from 18 to 61, treated at Primary Health Care in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. It is a qualitative research, carried out from March to July 2015, the semi-structured interview was applied. The data were analyzed using the collective subject discourse method, based on the theory of social representations. The analysis of the data brought the indicative of three central ideas: personal and family background and spiritual matters, realizing that depression and suicidal behavior are loaded with stereotypes and reveal biopsychosocial issues.
