Abstract

VERCEZE, Flávia Angelo  and  CORDEIRO, Sílvia Nogueira. The listening to the illness of women in primary health care. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.4, pp. 53-63. ISSN 2177-093X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.20435/pssa.vi.894.

The article aims to present a descriptive qualitative research with women attended by the public psychology service, in order to discuss the relation between body illness and psychic suffering. Thirteen semi-structured interviews were conducted and analyzed using the content analysis technique, getting into three categories: “I mourn to smile”, “bonds sickness”, and “what are you hungry for?”. The data interpretation was based on the theory of psychoanalysis, which highlights the importance of the psychic and subjective dimensions in the experience of illness, calling attention to the role of psychic mechanisms that participate in the health-disease processes.

Keywords : illness; psychic suffering; health-disease; psychoanalysis.
