Tobacco addiction is an important Collective Health problem. OBJECTIVE: To know the perception of users about the smoking cessation program in the city of Água Clara, MS. Methods: Two focus groups were carried out with 15 users who underwent treatment at a Basic Health Unit. RESULTS: The results show that the group process is important in the treatment due to the welcome they receive from the professional and from the other members of the group. Users perceive the use of medication as a determining factor in the treatment and suggest changes such as the exchange of experiences with former users of the program, individualized psychotherapy, dynamic methodologies and agility in care FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: The users highlighted as important the group for exchanging experiences, as well as the support materials they receive and the medication. In their perception, a greater bond with the doctor and longer treatment time could contribute to the prevention of relapses.
