Resumen

NATIVIDADE, Jean Carlos et al. Theory of planned behavior as predictor of social isolaton by Sars-Cov-2. Rev. Psicol. Saúde [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.4, pp. 199-213. ISSN 2177-093X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.20435/pssa.v13i4.1369.

The theory of planned behavior (TPB) has been shown to be an eficient predictor of health-related behaviors. This theory proposes that three psychological variables predict behavioral intenton: attitude, subjective norms, percepton of control. Behavioral intenton, hence, explains the behavior itself. This study aimed to test the predictive power of TPB on social isolaton from Sars-CoV-2. Participants were 1,139 adults, average age 35.5 years, from all regions of Brazil. The results showed adequate adjustment indexes of the predictive models of TPB on social isolaton. TPB explained 30.7% of the variance of the degree of perceived isolaton and 11.5% of the variance of the number of times they lef home. Among the components of the TPB, the attitude proved to be the factor with the greatest predictive power over the variables of social isolaton. This study can support preventon campaigns based on attitudes change.

Palabras clave : social isolaton; Sars-Cov-2; coronavirus infectons; attitudes; social behavior; theory of planned behavior.
