INTRODUCTION: Transsexual population has unanswered health needs, with many obstacles to solve those needs in an inter and multidisciplinary model in health care system. Goals: Analyze the perception of transsexuals about assistance in health services. METHOD: Qualitative descriptive study with nine semi structured interviews with transsexual population. The analysis was made with the technique theme based content analysis. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: five themes were listed: perception of transsexual people towards health professionals; perception of transsexual people population about the welcoming in health services; process of name change; suggestions to improve assistance in health care services; guideline of transexual process. There is still prejudice in the health care assistance, although there are subtle changes in the attitude of health professionals. FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: Consciousness actions to enable empathic inclusion of transgender population in health care system are needed to improve quality of assistance.
