The article aims to present some discussion about educational reforms in Brazil, analyzing the historical, social, political and economic aspects that influence the process of teaching and learning, which favored the present legislation on the subject. Questioning the constructs of the ideal of quality education in the country from the perspective of School Psychology, the attempt is to reflect on the different mechanisms that involve education, seeking to contribute to the construction and transformation of the educational reality through an actual intervention of the psychologist. Education is both a basic social and universal right, as well as an essential part of the development of a nation that is independent and harmonious in the relations with itself and with other nations.
