Abstract

KLINKO, Janaina  and  SEKKEL, Marie Claire. Psychology in high school: challenges of being teacher. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.2, pp. 73-83. ISSN 2177-2061.

This article aims to deepen our understanding about the teaching of the psychology discipline in the public schools of São Paulo: contents offered, as well as difficulties and meanings attributed by their teachers. We conducted two semi-structured interviews with teachers who taught regular psychology in high school in the public schools of São Paulo in 2007. From the produced material, we discuss recurring or dissonant issues in the speech of the interviewees, arranging them into two categories of analysis in order to consider the implications of being a psychology teacher, through topics such as the (un)definition of this role, so as some of the powers and sufferings found in the activity of this professional.

Keywords : Psychology; High School; Training; Curriculum.
