Abstract

CARNEIRO, Ariana Aguiar  and  TEIXEIRA, Catarina Malcher. Evaluation of Social Skills of undergraduates in Psychology at the Federal University of Maranhão. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.1, pp. 43-56. ISSN 2177-2061.

The concept of social skills (SS) is applied to the existence of a set of social behaviors that the person presents in interpersonal situations. The objective of this work was to investigate the pattern of SS for students of psychology at the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA) and know the assessment that these students give to the course in relation to socially skilled behavior promotion. The participants were 24 undergraduation students in psychology in the UFMA, who answered the Del Prette inventory of social abilities and a questionnaire of DSS promotion (development of social skills). The results indicated that beginner students presented a more improved repertoire of SS than students who were in the middle and in the end of the course; the intermediate students were those who demonstrated less need of SS training, while the graduating students had the highest indication for SS training.
