Abstract

This article is part of a doctorate research conducted in 2005 which evaluated the insertion of the subject psychology from 1999 to 2003 in a public high school in the State of Paraná. In this period this subject was excluded from the high school syllabus after the LDB, Law nº 9.394/96 was published. The insertion of psychology in the school syllabus was a decision the school board made to elaborate the contents of the psychological science for the students. 59 students who attended the third year of that course answered questionnaires with subjective questions related to the possible contributions that the syllabus studied in the Department of Psychology had favored their everyday life participated in the research. In general, the results of this research show that the students were interested in their self-knowledge first of all, and secondly in understanding their psychic structure or knowing how to relate with themselves and with others. The results indicate to educators which contents are considered important for this grade.
