Abstract

LEITE, Sergio Antonio da Silva. Psychology and politics: reflections on teacher training. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.1, pp. 83-100. ISSN 2177-2061.

This article discusses the issue of politics in psychology education, in particular the practices of psychology teachers. Based on the analysis of their own professional formation processes, the author assumes that political education is fundamental for future psychologists to develop professional practices, in terms of social change aimed at building a more just society. The author also identifies the important role of the mediation of authors who, in the case of school psychology, enabled the development of a critical view of Brazilian Educational Policy. These authors also highlighted the potential of the institutional educational process to collaborate with the formation of critical consciousness. Such ideas may be guiding the professional actions of psychologists in all areas, particularly in the education sector.

Keywords : Educational policy; Teaching in psychology; Awareness.
