FERREIRA, Luiza Cristina Mauad. Teacher self-efficacy beliefs, work satisfaction, and Burnout syndrome. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.2, pp. 19-37. ISSN 2177-2061.

Consistently, it has been found that the attraction of pursuing a career in teaching is declining, and that it is becoming increasingly difficult to draw good professionals into the field. The main factors related to work satisfaction or dissatisfaction included the recognition (or lack thereof) of teachers' work by the academic community and students' parents, the opportunities (or lack thereof) for career advancement or professional growth, the level of accomplishment in promoting behavioural changes in students, and the feeling of responsibility. This article aims to present the results of an investigation of the relationship between teacher self-efficacy (the belief in oneself to perform necessary tasks), and the conditions of professional performance and personal achievement within the academic context. 100 high school teachers from Minas Gerais, Brazil participated in the study. The relationships discovered suggest that intervention on some of the problems identified is of great importance to the field of education.

Palavras-chave : Teacher self-efficacy; Burnout syndrome.
