Abstract

MACIEL, Ana Cecília de Medeiros; SOUZA, Liliane Ferreira Neves Inglez de  and  DANTAS, Marilda Aparecida. Learning and study strategies used by high school students. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp. 14-32. ISSN 2177-2061.

This study's objective was to identify and analyse the learning and study strategies used by 534 high school students from public schools of São Paulo State. Researchers used a characterization questionnaire and the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory. Both instruments were collectively applied in the classroom. Results indicated the most and the least used strategies by all students. When observing the results by school year, freshmen students have a higher average than the students from other school years. When observing the results by class period, the students from the night classes presented higher scores. It is important to highlight that the efficacious use of study and learning strategies is related to motivational and self-regulated factors. The researchers suggest investigations that encompass variables related to such aspects including school performance.

Keywords : learning strategies; high school; motivation.
