GUERREIRO-CASANOVA, Daniela Couto; DANTAS, Marilda Aparecida  e  AZZI, Roberta Gurgel. Personal and school aspects associated to academic self-efficacy in high school. Psicol. Ensino & Form. [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp. 72-94. ISSN 2177-2061.

Academic self-efficacy has been related to the behavior of students in relation to the learning process, contributing to academic performance and preventing adolescent evasion. As said self-efficacy is dynamic and may fluctuate depending on interpretations of school experiences, this research aims to analyze the relationship between personal and school variables, and high school student's perceived levels of academic self-efficacy. The study gathered a sample of 886 students from eleven schools of the São Paulo State's public high school system. Through logistic regression analysis it was found that the variables of gender, age, parental education, grade retention and intention to apply to higher education showed significant relationships with perceived academic self-efficacy. The results are discussed in order to warn of the importance of the school context as a means to strengthen the perceptions of academic self-efficacy.

Palavras-chave : gender; grade retention; parental education; higher education.
