Abstract

This qualitative study aims to assess the significance of the emotional bond to the caregiver towards the children in foster care. It seeks to describe the caregivers perception about their practice and how they understand/interpret the feelings arose from this relationship. By means of psychoanalytic method, which uses the speech interpretation to reach evidences of unconscious meanings, it was based the research purposes. For data collection was conducted individual semi structured interviews; all interviews was recorded. The study was conducted with the participation of 3 caregivers - sample. The study conclusions have shown the relationship between caregivers and children is based on mutual affection, but the act of caring is far more functional as a way to supply foster children needs rather than as a natural act of a mother figure.
