Abstract

ZILIO, Diego. Some remarks on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and the problem of values. Perspectivas [online]. 2011, vol.2, n.2, pp. 159-165. ISSN 2177-3548.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the conception of values proposed by acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in the light of its functional contextualistic philosophy. It is argued that the pragmatic truth criterion of functional contextualism, when used in ACT to deal with the definition of values, can be problematic because of its relativism and foundational character.

Keywords : acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT); functional contextualism; moral relativism; values.
