Abstract

AGGIO, Natalia Maria; POSTALLI, Lidia Maria Marson  and  GARCIA, Lucas Tadeu. Implications of the behavioral analytic approach of thought to education: teaching to think and solving problems. Perspectivas [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.1, pp. 48-58. ISSN 2177-3548.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18761/pac.2015.038.

This article presents a Behavior Analytic approach to thought and discusses how it can influence on educational issues, especially in what concerns planning strategies for teaching reasoning and problem-solving skills. Both self-management and problem-solving behaviors are considered to involve environmental manipulations that produce behavior, which increases the probability of evoking the final target behavior. In this sense, teaching those skills is essential for teaching a student to think. Some researches that have given experimental support for that conceptual framework have been described.

Keywords : thought; reasoning; self-management; problem-solving; education.
