FERREIRA, Luciene Afonso; SILVA, Álvaro Júnior Melo e  and  BARROS, Romariz da Silva. Teaching discrete trial implementation to caregivers of children diagnosed with autism. Perspectivas [online]. 2016, vol.7, n.1, pp. 101-113. ISSN 2177-3548.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18761/pac.2015.034.

Caregiver-implemented intervention has been a plausible alternative in the Brazilian context for dissemination of behavior analytic intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), considering the still prevailing shortage of trained professionals in this field and the low availability of public services aimed at this end. This study evaluated the effect of a teaching procedure to discrete trial implementation on the performance of five caregivers of children diagnosed with autism. The procedure comprised three phases: pre-test, training, and post-test. The results showed that all the participants achieved performance accuracy where 100% correct according to predetermined evaluation protocol. The training procedure carried out was considered efficient to teach discrete trial implementation to caregivers of children diagnosed with autistic.
