This study aims to analyze the medical and psychological knowledge that produced the child sexuality in Brazil in the early 1900’s. From the hygienic visibility medicine will give children in the nineteenth century, explores specifically the interest in the topic of masturbation, combining both the family, focusing on the mother figure, and the school in the call of caring for the child. It analyzes the campaign of sexual education, whose claim to establish a sexual science in Brazil, of controversial legitimacy, whose horizon was enabling sexual prophylaxis that mitigated the production of crime, sexual perversions and nervous diseases, as well as family maladjustments, from the manufacture of a new object, namely, the sex of children, which will focus on a new pedagogy. One of the theoretical substrates of this project was a hygienic appropriation of Freudian ideas about psychosexual development. However, far from trying to recognize the multiplicity of desire, the Brazilian physicians, taking ownership of psychoanalytic ideas, aimed at two goals that, although coming from different matrices, showed solidarity. On one side, to stop, through the intervention since infancy, what was considered mass production of degenerates, whose etiologic nucleus would be sexual. On the other, to prepare fully adapted individuals, capable of building an eugenic and hygienically viable Brazilian nation.
