The present study aims to investigate drug use from historical point of view as an object of intervention of Justice and Psychiatry, from the early twentieth century to the present day, reflecting on the relationship and cooperation between these two institutions, placing the problem worldwide and in the Brazilian panorama. Thus, the main focus of the study is to find the similarities and differences between the processes of medicalization and criminalization of drug use, paying particular attention to the current arrangement of this problem.
