In this article I analyze the visibility that local press has built around the issue of violence against women, with a focus on press coverage of the series of murders and disappearances of women, popularly known as the "Loco de la ruta" case, one of the most resonant local cases with respect to violence against women. In order to build a picture as close as possible of how the press characterized these crimes, I systematized the distinctive marks of his approach. I have researched in the lexical choices that are used to describe them and the causes and consequences allotted to them. I have also analyzed the ways in which different actors are named and characterized, and the actions that they are attributed. Finally, I have traced the sources that journalists resorted to build news, in order to account how they are hierarchized and how this textual hierarchy responds to one that is social, which reproduces the hegemony of dominant groups.
