This paper seeks to understand the State's functions based on the organic relationship between the state political form and value-form. We gather contributions of José Nun, Claus Offe and James O'Connor to show the emergence of a contradiction between the functions of accumulation and legitimation. This contradiction leads to a re-articulation of all state functions. Here we outline an analysis of the content and re-articulation of state functions of accumulation, legitimation and repression in contemporary capitalism as manifestations of capital's structural crisis. The diagnosis is of a recrudescence of state violence as a symptom of barbary's management breakdown. We intend to understand the proportionality of such a repression usually accused as disproportional.
