Abstract

PRETES, Erika  and  VIANNA, Túlio. Do pastorado ao governo (bio)político dos homens: notas sobre uma genealogia da governamentabilidade. Rev. Epos [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.1, pp. 131-156. ISSN 2178-700X.

This work seeks to undertake a genealogical analysis of the issue of pastoral authority or Pastorate, this ars artium that the French philosopher Michel Foucault designated as a new general technology of people's government which enabled the formation of the state management of bodies as we know it and are daily subjected to. In order to understand this new form of governmentability, this first and initial kind of biopolitics, we will try to unveil its point of formation, its mutations, its development and its modus operandi. We will also seek to analyse the discursive formations and constructs developed pari passu by the Pastorate about the problem of flesh and sex, which allowed the docilization of modern people's bodies.

Keywords : Pastoral authority; governmentality; docilization of people's bodies; biopolitics; Michel Foucault.
