Abstract

BUSTAMANTE, Vânia; NEVES, Darci; MATOS, Marta Silva Dantas de  and  OLIVEIRA, Rosângela Santos. O brincar em família como possibilidade de humanização para crianças no hospital. Rev. Epos [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.2, pp. 0-0. ISSN 2178-700X.

We present a work experience report developed at the "Children and Families" project at the pediatric cardiology department of a public hospital in Salvador. These facilities provide care involving mental health and child development for children with heart disease and their families in a space that fosters interaction and play. We use  psychoanalysis as the theoretical support and more specifically the general theory of care and reflection on "acolhida". The project works in the play room at the Cardiopediatric clinic. The team is made up of a psychologist and psychology students. In this paper, we describe situations in which children are protagonists of the process itself, while the adults are also participating. There are also situations in which the work with parents and children together allows for greater autonomy and strengthening of family ties. We highlight the potential of this work on the ward and in the clinic. Furthermore, we argue that this approach has advantages over other experiences described in the literature and highlights the need to include the family when it comes to play in hospitalized children as this strengthens experiences of integrality and humanized practices.

Keywords : hospitalized children; playing; humanization; family.
