GRUNHAGEN, Sara  e  MARTINS, Luiz Paulo Leitão. The critique of history as a genealogy and the creative writing: analysis of a proposal by Saramago based on Deleuze. Rev. Epos [online]. 2015, vol.6, n.1, pp. 87-104. ISSN 2178-700X.

This paper aims to analyze José Saramago’s proposal of making a critique of history in his novels and to relate this analysis to Gilles Deleuze’s notion of critique, understood here as a genealogy. First, we will investigate how Deleuze understands the critique activity within a genealogy of values and sense from his reading of Nietzsche. Then, we will examine the essay "History and fiction", by Saramago, in order to understand how he conceives a critique of history in his writing. On the one hand, to Saramago addressing history is to claim it and allow oneself to tell critically another possible history. On the other hand, the genealogic activity of critique to Deleuze consists of identifying the relation of forces in such context, an approach that we believe to be present in the Portuguese writer’s work. Between history and fiction, the creative writing appears as a creative act of thought and a way of resistance. Therefore, what could have been aims to indicate the possible becoming.
