Abstract

This article aims to problematize gender norms that sustain and update inequalities in the service sector in Brazil as a space for the constitution of workers and forms of subjectivation. The study that guided the writing of the text articulates the categories gender and sexual division of labor and is presented as part of an integrative project of research proposals that aim to analyze the participation of women in different sectors of the Brazilian economy. For the analysis of the subject, through an interdisciplinary dialogue with the areas of study of psychology, sociology, economics, history, among others, are presented indices of participation and studies on workers in the service sector in Brazil, this made it possible to problematize the themes of the sexual division of labor, gender inequalities and forms of subjectivation.
