Abstract

This is a qualitative study of the descriptive-exploratory study on a community of Maroons remaining in southern Brazil. Had as objective to know the everyday and imaginary disease process for families remaining Maroons and weaving reflections on the necessary care to this community by adopting the approach of Health Promotion Data collection was conducted through interviews semi-structured interviews with 12 families during the year 2011, the activities of an Extension Project. We opted for the thematic analysis suggested by Minayo (2010). Having emerged two categories of analysis: "Conceptions of the disease process for families Maroons" and "Ways of health care for families Maroons". The study results were discussed in light of the Comprehensive Sociology brought by sociologist Michel Meffesoli, pointing to the need for changes in health care will especially indicating directions for a nursing performance that consider people and families as active participants in the process sick and being healthy.
