AZEVEDO, Dulcian Medeiros de et al. From academy to reality: a reflection on the practice of physical examination in health of services. Saúde Transform. Soc. [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.4, pp. 106-110. ISSN 2178-7085.

This study aims to reflect on the importance of physical examination by the nurse, identifying possible difficulties that may distance him from this practice. The physical examination is one of the steps of Nursing Process and configures itself as relevant technique, necessary for the detection of pathologic states, prevention of diseases, monitoring the development and planning of clinical care strategies. Not performing it can be tied to the precariousness of work, the failures of the formation process of the members of nursing staff, the organization of their work routines or even the operational difficulties in service management. It is, therefore, necessary that nursing staff develop health actions with skill, scientific and ethical-political competence in order to overcome the barriers that prevent the provision of a comprehensive care, in order to meet the expectations of the user/family and achieve a better quality in health assistance.
