Abstract

AZEVEDO, Luciana Fernandes de Medeiros. Health workers facing nervousness: an institutional ethnography perspective. Saúde Transform. Soc. [online]. 2014, vol.5, n.1, pp. 42-49. ISSN 2178-7085.

The study aims at analyzing the conceptions of health workers about nerves and identify their practices of care. 06 in-depth interviews were conducted with health workers in Natal/RN and a focus group with 04 agents community. The analysis of material is grounded in perspective of Institutional Ethnography and discourse analysis. The survey participants understand nerves as a suffering related to living conditions. They are not always able to provide interventions in the light of working conditions and training technique. Some participants seek to talk to users and advise them, but cannot make use of intersectoral approach. The psychologists are usually prepared for therapeutic listening and, once they have a critical view of health, can also innovate with care practices user-centered and focused on the needs of the community. It is necessary to strengthen care devices as the nuclei of support for family health (NASF), but also invest in wider training of psychologists.
