Abstract

GALEANO, María Teresa. Depressive indicators in a sample of patients with obesity. Eureka [online]. 2011, vol.8, n.2, pp. 254-266. ISSN 2220-9026.

This descriptive research aims to describe the relationship between indicators of depression and obesity. The sample consists of 111 patients with private assistance who request consultation due to obesity related problems, selected through a voluntary and non probabilistic technique of purposive sampling in Asuncion, Paraguay. The instrument applied was the Beck Depression Inventory. The analysis and data processing techniques applied were descriptive and inferential statistics. The Beck Inventory showed significant differences in relation to sex. The results proved that depressive symptoms are mild to moderate in a sample of n = 111 subjects with obesity.
