Abstract

This article is a bibliographic research which describes differents methods used by the psychoanalisis to investigate the early psychic development. In the beginnings the psychoanalytic method used to infer about what happened in childhood from the analysis of adults, and there were conflicting positions on the relevance of child analysis. Through the analysis of dreams, stories of patients, transference and countertransference, a theory of early psychic development was constructed. Altough, since the implementation of new techniques and theoretical paradigms, started to generate theories on the base from observations and empirical research with babies. Introduced for the exhibition four stages which try to reflect this change in the research way about early psychic development.
