LOURENCO, Lélio Moura; CRUVINEL, Érica; ALMEIDA, Adriana Aparecida de  and  GEBARA, Carla Ferreira de Paula. Study on the beliefs of health agents about domestic violence. Est. Inter. Psicol. [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.1, pp. 108-128. ISSN 2236-6407.

Domestic violence(DV) has been identified as a major cause of morbidity and mortality, awakening in the health sector, a major concern with this subject. This study aims to assess the beliefs of the Community Health Agents(CHA) regarding domestic violence against children, adolescents and elderly. We used the technique of focus groups were surveyed in 24 Basic Health Units(UBS). The data were analyzed using the technique of content analysis. Among the types of DV most frequently detected, are: "Physics" and "neglect" for children/adolescents, and "Financial" and "Psychological/Emotional" in the elderly. Mothers were identified as major abusers of children and adolescents while the sons were cited as major abusers of the elderly. These results make clear the need to think of a qualification of CHA, as well as the development and implementation of public policies to prevent and fight against DV in the group studied.
