Abstract

This article aims to analyze the experiences of a group of young participants in a vocational training experience in Young Apprentice Program (PJA, in Portuguese). It was used qualitative methodology and semi-structured interviews, analyzed through thematic content analysis. Participated 20 young people aged between 15 and 22 years. The data shows that despite not they demand insertion in PJA, the young people allied financial needs of families and the speech that it is needed experience to get employed. With the experiences in PJA, they realized that they had an opportunity to: get a professional initiation, gain experience, learn banking techniques, find the first job. Thus, they interpret that they need to take this opportunity, what makes them feel the weight of responsibility that cannot fail, which causes suffering.
