Abstract

DA CUNHA, Vivian Fukumasu; ROSSATO, Lucas; GAIA, Ronan da Silva Parreira  and  SCORSOLINI-COMIN, Fabio. Religiosity/spirituality in health: a graduate discipline. Est. Inter. Psicol. [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.3, pp. 232-251. ISSN 2236-6407.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5433/2236-6407.2020v11n3p232.

Evidence suggests an important relationship between religiosity/spirituality (R/S) and health, however, few professionals in the area have a background that includes the pertinent knowledge of this relationship. This study aims to present an experience report on a discipline developed in a postgraduate program at a public university in the State of São Paulo. The discipline proposed to understand how R/S has been approached in health care and to show techniques, instruments, and intervention strategies that can be used in these contexts. The students were actively involved when being invited to talk about their personal, professional and academic experiences with R/S. The discipline fulfills the goal of transmitting knowledge based on scientific evidence on the R/S dimension, in addition to training professionals capable of looking at themselves and others empathetically, valuing feelings and emotions, expanding training resources.

Keywords : higher education; religion; spirituality; health personnel; health care.
